Worktops

Stone, engineered stone or laminate?

Choose a worktop for its use, care and construction.

Natural stone

Stone types differ in porosity and response to spills. Discuss the specific stone, any sealing needs and suitable care. An impregnator improves resistance to absorption but does not make a surface damage-proof.

Engineered stone surfaces

Composition and performance depend on the brand and range. For example, Silestone recommends trivets for hot objects. Do not assume that all stone-like worktops behave the same way.

Laminate on a substrate

Joints and the sink cut-out need particular attention. Do not leave water around seams, where it can reach the wood-based substrate. For every worktop, agree supports, overhangs and sink installation.
